Randy Wu ’74, J.D. ’77
An alum and frequent donor to UC Berkeley, Randy Wu is philosophical about the role of Cal in his life and in society. “Fiat Lux has a double meaning for me,” says Randy, a retired executive who worked in the energy industry and helped develop solar energy projects. “Like renewable energy, Cal is an invaluable resource that is worth many times the investment and deserves our support.”
UC Berkeley remains a special place for Randy and his wife. They met at Cal and have three academic degrees from the university between them.
Randy credits his math and law degrees for opening the door to his career in the energy industry. But they understand the cost of education has risen considerably since their days on campus, so they have given considerable support to undergraduate education in the form of a scholarship fund as well as to Berkeley Law.
“Tuition and housing are a lot higher today than they were during our time at Cal,” Randy says, “so we hope our contribution will help make Cal a little more affordable for students in the years ahead.”
