Paul Ibarra M.B.A. ’08

It was during his time at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business — including a pivotal summer internship at Microsoft Game Studios — that Paul Ibarra resolved to parlay his love of video games into a viable career path.

“My time at Haas was extremely rewarding both personally and professionally,” says Paul, today a longtime product manager in the video game industry. “I made a number of strong connections and great friends through the program.”

While working on his M.B.A., he realized that Berkeley Haas’s culture and values connect to the university’s broader mission of serving the greater good, and so today he gives to the Haas general fund as well as the Cal Fund, which is unrestricted and enables the university to provide support to the areas where it is needed the most. In the future, Paul plans to expand his philanthropy to help fund scholarships as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, in order to help deserving students and foster a more diverse student body.

“A gift to Cal helps nurture future leaders driven to innovate and succeed,” he says, “while still being grounded to a larger purpose.”
