Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA)

June 8, 2025 11:00 AM — 7:00 PM

Join us for the opening day of Routed West: Twentieth-Century African American Quilts in California with free gallery admission for all!

Community Day will be held on Sunday, June 8, featuring free gallery admission for all, plus Art Making for All Ages at 11:30 a.m. and a Curator’s Welcome with Elaine Yau Ph.D. ’15 at 2:30 p.m.!

Routed West traces the flow and flourishing of quilts in the context of the Second Great Migration. These quilts explore the medium’s unique capacity for connecting kin across time and space, holding memory and ancestral knowledge, and opening up space for beauty and ingenuity.
